City Won’t Use Contractor For Leftover Curb Debris Cleanup
Contractors May Be Used At Hartley, Hibbard Plant
The city of Duluth changed its mind Thursday about possibly hiring an outside tree service to finish picking up all that storm debris still on many homeowners’ curbs from the severe storms more than one month ago.
Councilor Joel Sipress says the city crews have actually made some decent progress and city staff now believes they can handle the rest on their own.
This comes after Mayor Emily Larson told FOX 21 on Aug. 7 that she was pushing for an outside tree contractor so she could get city crews back on the city streets doing regular summer duties.
The goal for full cleanup is by Aug. 29.
Meanwhile, the council will still be meeting Monday to discuss potentially hiring a contractor to clean up wind-damaged Hartley Park and another contractor to process debris that will be used at Minnesota Power’s Hibbard Generator Plant, according to Sipress.
