Rob Link Passes Away At Age 66
Duluth Developer Died Saturday In His Home
Rob Link was born and raised in Minneapolis and first came to Duluth in 1985 to take over as president of the Jamar Company.
Over the next three decades he left a huge mark on a very grateful community.
Colleague Tracy Tellor comments, “He’s funny, he’s direct, he made everything happen, he’d come in early, work late.”
To most Link was more than just a business partner, he was a friend, and motivator.
Kristi Stokes, president of The Greater Downtown Council says, “When I think about Rob, I think you always knew what was on his mind. He always spoke the truth, he spoke out and really just made things happen.”
Determined to make his vision for a better Duluth a reality.
Stokes comments, “Rob was so instrumental in really helping us transform our downtown. He had so much vision and really has a stamp just about anywhere in our downtown.”
In 1990 Link became a partner at A&L Properties and continued his quest to make Duluth into the city he knew it could be.
Stokes as adds, “He was tenacious. He just really had the drive to make things happen, and just really had the vision as well.”
It takes only a glance to see one of link’s many buildings, but perhaps what he was best know for was Duluth’s downtown tech village.
Tellor remembers, “With the whole renaissance of superior street, he was one of the first people to start the resurgence.”
Now with Link gone the community is left to grieve for a man who gave so much.
Tellor also adds, “His legacy in Duluth not only are the buildings he built, but the relationships that he built with everyone here who he met and we’re going to miss him, we’ll always feel him and thank you Rob, for all that you did for everyone.”
Link had been involved with more than 40 buildings throughout the Northland over the past 25 years. There is no word yet on any specific plans for upcoming memorial services.
