Hundreds of UMD Freshman Move In
Freshman say their goodbyes as they begin their college careers
The incoming freshman class at UMD is expected to have more than 2,000 students.
Today, hundreds said bye to mom and dad as they moved into their new dorms.
It was the first day that incoming freshman could move in.
Classes start on August 29th but this week its all fun and games as freshman take part in the Annual UMD Welcome Week.
Seniors say it is a big part of the freshman experience.
Cyrina Ostgaard, a Senior at UMD, said “We want them to feel like this is a place they can make connections and somewhere they belong and its been proven that doing a welcome week helps people stay at college and all of the great things associated with college.
Welcome week festivities will continue through Friday.
