Vehicle Pursuit on Highway 70 in Sawyer County

Suspect apprehended two days later

On Wednesday, October 19, 2016 around 3:30 p.m., the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a Washburn County Deputy who was involved in a vehicle pursuit eastbound on State Highway 70 near Stone Lake, WI. The pursuit would continue into Sawyer County.

The suspect was pursued eastbound on STH 27/70 to Sawyer County Highway E, at which time the suspect vehicle proceeded northbound on CTH E. The pursuit continued to the St. Francis Mission Church, where the suspect would pull into the parking area, turn around and strike a Sawyer County Deputy’s squad car.

The male operator and 16-year-old passenger then fled the scene on foot. The 16-year-old female was apprehended a short distance later, but the male continued to flee on foot.

A male suspect, Kenneth J. Quagon, 23, is believed to have been the driver of the suspected vehicle.

Quagon was apprehended on Friday, October 21 around 11:30 p.m. after the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office received information that Quagon was in a vehicle proceeding into the City of Hayward.

All law enforcement involved executed a traffic stop and Quagon was found to be in the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. Two other males and a juvenile were also taken into custody.
