Scholar, Journalist, artist and activist Dr. Chenjerai Kumanyika visited UMD to discuss Entertainment, culture and activism.

Dr. Kumanyika’s work and live-stream coverage of protests have reached people around the world. He covers issues like racism, white privilege, and how media affects culture, and touched on some of those topics at the talk he gave at UMD today.

“Yes music has power as a product and something we watch and go to show and pay for things, but music also has a deeper much older history, and a deeper, powerful role,” said Dr. Kumanyika.
