CSS Hosts Panel Discussion on Policing

Justice Together Club has discussion on policing

The College of Saint Scholastica’s Justice Together Club hosted a panel on policing tonight.

Dozens came to the open forum to discuss race relations and police reform in the community.

The panel included Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken, Human Rights Officer Carl Crawford, and a representative from Black Lives Matter Minneapolis.

Organizers hope this dialogue will improve inclusivity and diversity at CSS and beyond.

“It’s important to discuss racial disparities, especially in Duluth, and that police brutality is a thing even though we haven’t seen it here and that people of color’s lives matter,” says CSS student Nafisa Osman.

One solution discussed was having diversity training for police officers.
