Roses Buried for Winter
Rose Garden bushes buried for winter
Volunteers helped tip roses in the Duluth Rose Garden today.
Rose tipping is a process where rose bushes are buried underground to help them survive the winter.
Over 800 rose bushes will be buried out of more than 3,000 bushes in the Rose Garden. The other bushes will remain above ground and will be covered with bags of leaves.
Volunteers help bury the bushes to keep the rose garden thriving.
“It benefits the community in such a great way. It’s such a beautiful place and a beautiful view, it’s hard to beat and any way we can help out is great,” says volunteer Nikoli Wiens.
The roses will remain buried all winter and will appear again next spring.
