Coats for Kids Collection Sites Open Until October 31
Time To Reach Back In Your Closet For Old Jackets
It’s time to open that cluttered closet and dust off those unused jackets to donate to the Coats for Kids Campaign. Donation locations are open until October 31.
The initiative started 14 years ago, when Benna Ford owner, Pat Ringold, saw a young girl running across Tower Ave in a wardrobe not fit for the frigid temperatures.
He knew then that he had to do something to help those in need and so started Coats for Kids.
He tells us that many take this time to teach their own children about why giving back is important.
“A lot of times ill see parents come in to the dealership and I’ll see them have the kids throw them in to the back of the ford f 150 and their explaining to them why their doing it,” says Pat Ringold of Benna Ford
The drive is to support those in need across the region, but the need is a year around struggle for local organizations.
“Really the need is year around, there’s always hunger, there’s always struggles with different things and the coats is just one of those aspects it’s great to see the community coming together,” says Jasen Elcombe of the Superior Salvation Army.
If you are one in need of a jacket or know someone who does, The Salvation Army of Superior will be distributing the jackets November 9th through the 12th at the Superior Mariner Mall.
