Volunteer Attorney Program Inspires Lawyers to Assist Low Income Clients

Legal leaders shared their experiences on how to help low income individuals find a way out of the legal system.

In conjunction with pro-bono week, the Volunteer Attorney Program encouraged lawyers to help low income clients at their Criminalization of Poverty event.

Public defenders, judges, and other legal leaders shared their experiences on how they can assist low-income individuals find their way out of being trapped in the criminal justice system.

“This is a dialogue that needs to happen right now with the timely events that happening across our nation but today we want to talk about this to inspire our volunteer attorneys to take action,” said Volunteer Attorney Program executive director Dori Streit.

The Volunteer Attorney Program covers all of northeastern Minnesota.
