Healthcare Providers Discuss Diversity

20 Percent of Minnesota's Residents are People of Color

The populations of Minnesota and Wisconsin are becoming more and more diverse, and healthcare providers are learning to work with people from different cultures and spiritual beliefs.

Experts in Health care for diverse populations gathered at the College of St. Scholastica to discuss how health care providers can treat patients of different back grounds, not only through medicine, but with a  more holistic, and culturally sensitive approach.

“We want everyone to be respected, we want everyone to feel like they belong, we want everyone to feel like the get the same level of healthcare service,” Gary Boewlhower of CSS.

Key note speakers addressed health care for indigenous communities, and breakout sessions touched on topics like.

In Minnesota nearly 20 percent of residents are people of color and have a diverse set of beliefs, values, and practices.
