18 Construction Projects Finished Across the Northland

4 More to be Completed Within the Next Couple of Weeks

This year, MnDOT had 32 projects for Northeastern Minnesota at the beginning of the year, and as of Thursday, 18 of them have been completed, with plans of wrapping up 4 more projects within the next couple of weeks.

That puts MnDOT right on track with their plans.  Some of the projects include 9 replaced or rehabilitated bridges, 233 miles of new pavement, and close to almost 6 miles of new sidewalks, and more than 190 pedestrian ramps.

“We’re replacing or improving the pavement once every 19 or 20 years, which is really, a little bit beyond what we design it for so we gotta keep up with it or the overall system will continue to deteriorate beyond what the public expects,” said Duane Hill, the District Engineer for MnDOT.

The projects that are not yet finished are projects that were planned on being extended in to 2017.
