Northland Raises Awareness for Diabetes Month

Event Included Education and Free Vision Scans

November 14th is World Diabetes day, but the Northland celebrated a little early.

Agencies across the Northland raised awareness by giving out information on Diabetes and resources at Walmart in Hermantown.  The event also included free blood glucose testing, and vision screening.

“There are millions of people that are at risk for diabetes and aren’t aware that they are so of course the sooner they get treatment for it. Hopefully they’ll still have a chance to prevent it,” said Larry Winner, from the Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation.

1 in 5 people are at risk for diabetes.
