Cornelia Still in Duluth Harbor

Awaiting grain deal

The Cornelia is once again sitting in the Duluth harbor, but this time they are waiting to load up on some grain.

The ship was detained in 2015 for six weeks in the harbor. Its former owners had been found guilty of illegally dumping wastewater. The ship does currently have new owners and a new crew.

The Duluth Seaway Port Authority told Fox 21 that the ship is currently negotiating for grain they would bring to another location. The Cornelia has been in the harbor since October.

The ship had recently come into port to unload some cement.

The Port Authority also said it would be cheaper for the Cornelia to wait on a grain deal, rather than going back empty-handed.
