New Tracks At Historic Downtown Depot

Construction At Duluth Depot

One of the 125 year old tracks inside the museum, lane 7 to be exact, has been slowly sinking into the ground, so earlier this year the Depot Foundation decided to begin a $35,000 project to replace the track and make room for new and interesting displays.

North Shore Scenic Railroad Station Master Josh Miller says, “The bricking had to come up, the track pieces and rails come apart, the ties come up, then it was a dug out then it was all re–tampered down, then new modern ties and plastic bedding for underneath it were laid down.”

The new track is expected to be complete once the original has been laid back into place.
