Copper Top Church Celebrates 50th Birthday

Celebratory Service Held to Mark Special Day

The first United Methodist Church is celebrating 50 years at the Copper Top Church.

50 years ago was when the first service was held at the Copper Top Church. The church held a celebratory service to mark the special day. Former ministers and guest bishops attended the service, and a catered lunch was served right after.

“Certainly this church the Copper Top Church has become a landmark for the city, lots of people use it for finding their way around and so forth. It’s also been a beacon for the Methodists in the area,” said Dorothy Anway, who has been a member of the Church for 50 years.

Meatballs were served for lunch because meatballs were used during a fundraiser by the church 50 years ago.
