Voyageurs National Park Seeking Information on Poached Deer

Possible incident happened near Blind Ash Bay Hiking Trail

Voyageurs National Park staff are seeking information on a possible poached deer near the Blind Ash Bay Hiking Trail. The incident is believed to have occurred on or near October 28, 2016.

Hunting or trapping of any type or manner is prohibited on Federal lands and all waters within the boundary of Voyageurs National Park. This also includes the removal of animals that have entered the park boundary after being shot outside the park.

Voyageurs National Park law enforcement is currently investigating the incident and any information provided would be helpful.

Park rangers enforce hunting and trapping laws under Federal regulations. These carry a maximum penalty up to $10,000 and/or 6-months in jail for misdemeanor violations and $20,000 and/or 5-years in jail with forfeiture of hunting equipment for felony violations.
