On Thursday, November 17, 2016 around 12:50 p.m. Bayfield County Dispatch received a phone call about a body found in the woods north of Iron River. The Iron River police Department was notified and responded to the scene.

Chief Tony Williams responded and located the skeletonized remains.

Approximately two years ago there was a “Silver Alert” issued to the local area in reference to a missing subject from Southern Wisconsin. The subject was believed to have been in the Iron River Area shortly after he left his residence.

Authorities, on Friday, November 18, confirmed and identified the remains as Robert Osborn, 70, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The same man the “Silver Alert” was issued for.

The case remains under investigation pending autopsy results, however, foul play is not suspected.
