Deadline approaching to mail Christmas packages

DULUTH, Minn. – With Christmas less than two weeks away, it’s time to get packages in the mail if you haven’t already.

The Mail Room in Duluth has had people coming in non–stop to get gifts sent off.

This is the busiest time of year for the USPS, so they recommend having packages in the mail by this Friday in order for them to arrive by Christmas.

“If you are going to choose the post office you should probably go with priority mail, which guarantees it within three days,” says Alyssa Royer, Marketing Manager at The Mail Room. “Otherwise, I would choose UPS and FedEx, which the last day to ship ground is the December 21. Other than that, you’re looking at overnight and second day air [which is] going to get pretty expensive.”

The Mail Room has two postal service pick up times this month to keep up with demand. They say they will also wrap and box up your gifts for a small fee before you send them off for the holidays.
