HAYWARD, Wis. – Every year resolutions are made to lose weight, get fit, and make healthier choices, and experts say if a person sets attainable and specific goals when making those resolutions, they’ll be far more apt to keep them.

The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) has been hard at work helping individuals keep their New Year’s resolutions by offering a variety of best-in-class year-round events that are designed to get people out and on the trail to fitness.

Registration begins on January 1, 2017 at 12:00 a.m., and the race is slated for September 30, 2017.

Birkie Trail Run Festival offers scenic views and challenging stretches of the famous Birke Trail and single track sections of the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association trail system, while giving runners an opportunity to steer clear of the roads and be introduced to trail-running.

In 2016, over 1000 runners took the the trails in the Birkie Trail Run & Trek, and for 2017, the ABSF is ramping up the festival atmosphere on Friday Sept. 29 and Saturday Sept. 30 with live entertainment, on-site camping, unique foods, bonfires, and more.

Birkie officials hope that the early registration will help runners keep their New Year’s resolutions, while also saving them money.

Those interested in can register for individual and team events at http://www.birkie.com on January 1.
