Students Get College Preview at WITC Career Day
More than 400 Students from Nine Schools were on Campus
SUPERIOR, Wis. – Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College opened its doors to more than 400 high school students From nine Northland schools Tuesday.
As part of Career Day, these kids could experience everything WITC has to offer. From nursing, to early childhood education, to trade programs, students got to work with teachers and current students to find out what WITC is all about.
“Most of the students that are here today are sophomores, juniors and seniors, so they’re starting to think about what’s next,” said Kayti Stolp, WITC Career Specialist. “This gives them an opportunity to see what we offer here, experience it, to talk to our current students who are leading these sessions before they make that commitment and decide to apply.”
Many of the kids on campus Tuesday, especially ones just getting into the college application process, were grateful for the experience.
“It’s something so I have a little piece of what college is like for the next two years that I’m still in high school,” said Ellie Martin, a junior at Hermantown High School. “To learn what I really want to do and see other colleges and open my eyes to it.”
And for anyone who couldn’t make it out to Career Day, WITC offers class shadow sessions for prospective students who want to get a look at what WITC has to offer.
