Fire Breaks Out in Superior Home

The fire was reported on the 2300 block of John Avenue

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Around 8:36 a.m., Wednesday morning, the Superior Fire Department and other first responders, responded to a structure fire in the 2300 block of John Avenue.

When crews arrived, they found a large volume of dark brown and black smoke coming form the roof vents and eves of a single story addition on a two story home.

All occupants of the residence were reported to be out of the home. No injuries have been reported.

Efforts to extinguish the fire were hampered by multiple remodels and cold temperatures.

Nine firefighters and a Battalion Chief, responded to the initial call. Seven off-duty members were called in to cover additional 911 calls.

Crews were on scene until after 1 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time. The loss is estimated at $85,000.

American Red Cross volunteers are currently assisting the family of six.
