SUPERIOR, Wis. – A very busy couple of days for firefighters in Superior, as they’ve battled three major fires in 24 hours.

Wednesday night a fire broke out at a home on the 1900 block of Ogden Street in Superior.

When Superior firefighters arrived, crews found the two story house to be filled with fire, and smoke showing from two second floor windows.

The fire extended into the attic, which was remodeled as an additional bedroom.

Fire officials were able to extinguish the main part of the blaze quickly, but had a difficult time locating and extinguishing empty spaces in the attic. This resulted in a total loss of the home.

Officials say one dog was rescued from the fire, but one bird and two cats were unable to be rescued.

The homeowners were put into contact with the Red Cross for assistance. No injuries were reported.

At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. One crew is still monitoring the scene, in case hot spots continue to flare up.

Damage estimates are $100,000. Nine firefighters and the Battalion Chief responded to the blaze. Meanwhile, nine off duty firefighters were called in to cover the rest of the city.
