Skate Bowl Opens at The Encounter
Skaters Celebrated the Opening with a Skate Jam
DULUTH, Minn. – The Encounter has a new attraction just for local skaters.
A brand new skate bowl opened at the Encouter Friday, and skaters celebrated with a Skate Jam.
The new bowl was paid for thanks to a donation by the Common Apparel clothing company, and it’s the only ramp of its kind in the Twin Ports.
“To have these kids be able to skate a bowl, it’s really something we’ve never had,” said Eric Hermonson, Executive Director of The Encounter.
The skate bowl gives area skaters a chance to step back in time.
“This is the closest thing to skating a pool like they did back in the day, when that’s all they had to skate for ramps,” said Tyler Conley, Skatepark Director. “The whole flow is totally different. Cruise around like your surfing.”
The Encounter skate park is open Tuesday through Saturday.
