Tribal Leaders Call For Clean Water, Less Pipelines

DULUTH, Minn. – Tribal leaders from across the Great Lakes discussed environmental concerns raised by the expansion and abandonment of pipelines.

Leaders addressed how pipeline removal projects could impact local economies, help fight climate change, and protect water sources.

Tribal leaders also discussed Standing Rock and their concerns that a new pipeline could wreck on the environment.

“We are deeply concerned about our water. We are deeply concerned by the fact that the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan have done little to protect our well-being in this way,” said Winona LaDuke, the Executive Director of Honor the Earth.

Leaders say they will be hosting more events to reach out and educate the public.
