3 Duluth Men Charged In I-35 Drive-by Shooting
DULUTH, Minn. – Duluth police have arrested and charged three men believed to be involved in the drive-by shooting that took place on Sunday, Feb. 5 on I-35.
Duluth police initially responded to a call at a local hospital after receiving information of a 19-year-old male being admitted with an apparent gunshot wound. It was determined that the shootings took place from one moving vehicle into another. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
On Monday, Feb. 13, 21-year-old Nicholas Marvin Lamerand, of Duluth, was formally charged in St. Louis County District Court for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Joseph Michael Lamerand, 22, of Duluth, was formally charged for Aiding an Offender.
Monday around noon, officers located 21-year-old Brandon Edward Spence, of Duluth, and arrested him on a warrant by St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for 2nd Degree Assault and Aid and Abet Drive by Shooting.
Nicholas and Joseph are brothers; Brandon Spence is their cousin.
The criminal complaint says Spence was the person who fired the shot at the other moving vehicle after he was allegedly “ripped off” earlier that evening during a drug deal with the people inside the other vehicle.
