Victim Identified in East 11th Street Shooting

The incident happened around 2 p.m. in the 500 block of East 11th Street

UPDATE 2/15: The 22-year-old victim has been identified as William Andrew Grahek, a Duluth resident. Authorities have stated that no suspect is in custody at this time, and the investigation continues to be very active at this time as they follow up with numerous leads.

DULUTH, Minn. – Another shooting has been reported Tuesday around 2 p.m. in Duluth at 510 East 11th Street.

Police initially reported to Fox 21 that it was a home invasion. An eyewitness at the event told us that someone was seen leaving in an ambulance.

Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken confirmed a 22-year-old male was shot, and transported to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Tuesday afternoon police detained several individuals and conducted interviews. Later Tuesday, police said they had identified a person of interest, and warrants were being conducted.

If anyone has information on this shooting, they are asked to call 911.

Myers-Wilkins Elementary, a nearby school, also went on lock down during the incident. It was done as a precautionary measure.

“The Duluth Police Department asked Myers-Wilkins to go into a precautionary lock down as officers respond to an incident in the community,” said Katie Kaufman of Duluth Schools. “Most of the students had already gone home; those remaining were part of the after school programs.” 

This is the sixth shooting in Duluth this year that’s resulted in injury. Police say they will release more information Wednesday morning.
