American Birkebeiner, Kortelopet, Prince Haakon Races Cancelled

HAYWARD, Wis. – After unseasonably warm weather and rain, and the predicted snow missing the Hayward and Cable area, the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation announces the cancellation of the 2017 American Birkebeiner, Kortelopet, and Prince Haakon cross-country ski races.

Instead, BirkieStock 2017 will take place as an inaugural celebration of the American Birkebeiner Trialhead and start area.

Skiers, spectators, and friends are all invited. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, buses will transport riders from the Como Parking Lot to the American Birkebeiner Trailhead.

For those anxious to get on the trails, the trail crew is creating an estimated 5K loop for individuals to ski!

Live music begins at 11:45 a.m. and plays to 5:00 p.m. Visitors can visit food and beer tents, watch the World Championships on the jump screen, and visit the Birkie Store.

Demos have been moved from Sunday to Saturday, so enthusiasts can try out the latest ski gear and fat bikes.
