Children Meet Real Super Heroes at Superhero Family Day
Police Officers Engaged With Children at the Event at the Depot
DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth Police foundation and the depot hosted Superhero Family Day, Saturday where Children, some dressed up as their favorite heroes took part in activities like face painting, coloring, and meeting with police officers.
They also had the chance to pet horses from the mounted horse patrol, and tour the inside of the Duluth police department mobile command center and tactical van. Organizers say the event is a good way for police officers to engage with the community.
“The early we can reach children, and let them know we want to help them, and we want to have a relationship with them and develop that sense of trust between us and them, the better it works out for our entire community,” said Lt. Mike Ceynowa of the Duluth Police Department.
The Duluth Police Foundation supports community safety initiatives. The foundation also awards grants to area nonprofits and citizens groups that help make Duluth a safer place to live.
