Brewery Coming to Downtown Grand Rapids
Rapids Brewing Company will include a restaurant, taproom, and live entertainment
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – A new brewery is expected to open up by the end of this year in Grand Rapids.
Rapids Brewing Company recently got the green light to move forward with plans to build a brewery downtown, at the site of the old Rialto Theater on Pokegama Avenue North.
The $3 million dollar project will keep most of the theater intact, but demolish the two buildings to the north.
Rapids Brewing Company will include a restaurant, taproom, and live entertainment on the original theater stage.
“In Grand Rapids the market seemed to be underserved,” said Ed Zabinski, co-founder of Rapids Brewing Company. “We also like the concept of investing in downtown. Downtown Grand Rapids, we felt, needed a little more of an attraction, a little more amenities.”
A Duluth architect is currently working on the brewery design and a consultant is helping craft their flagship beers.
Owners hope to have the brewery and restaurant up and running by December.
