Lake Superior College Student Sells Welding Art Pieces for Veterans Charity
DULUTH, Minn. —
A welding student at Lake Superior College is doing her best to give back to veterans.
Her art piece, called “A Soldier’s Love” depicts a silhouette of a soldier and his loyal dogs, backlit by red, white, and blue LEDs.
Kathleen Crooks is hoping to sell these to help raise money for a charity called “Pets Loyal 2 Vets,” a non-profit that connects veterans in Minnesota with trained therapy companion dogs.
“My dad was a World War II vet. And I don’t think we give enough back to them,” Crooks said. “I’m hoping by this more people will donate to any cause for the vets.”
She’s selling them for $125.
The sculpture will be entered in the SkillsUSA competition later this month.
Kathleen’s first buyer is a veteran who contacted her directly.
She can be contacted via email or by calling her at 218-565-8490.
