Mentor Duluth Celebrates Match of the Year

Awards Were Given at a Luncheon Held in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn.- Mentor Duluth celebrated the Mentor Mentee match of the year at the Making a Difference Luncheon at Holiday Inn in Duluth today.

Past and present mentors, local leaders, and others involved with Mentor Duluth honored Mentor Duluth’s 20th birthday at the Luncheon, where they also recognized the Match of the year.

Every year, Mentor Duluth honors a mentor and mentee as a match of the year. Usually the match has been working together consistently for more than 3 years.

This year the match of the year was awarded to Mentor Peter Williamson and his Mentee, Dakota O’Mary. The two have been working together for more than 10 years.  Past recipients say it’s a great honor to receive the award, and many of them continue to stay in touch after they are out of the program.

“It’s such important work because it’s life changing for both sides. It’s life changing for the mentor especially because you learn so much,” said Lisa Lacore, a former mentor.
