AURORA, Minn.-Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of the unsolved murder of Cindy Elias.

Her body was found eight miles north of Aurora. She was last seen in Virginia at about 12:30 a.m. at a local bar. She said she was looking for a ride home and said she might hitchhike.

“Elias was found buried under a pile of brush at the scene, and initial investigations revealed she died as a result of multi-traumatic injuries to the head,” said the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office in a prepared statement.

The Sheriff’s Office said the perpetrator(s) are most likely locals who are familiar with the area.

If you have any information about the case, contact the authorities. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a resolution.
