DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the late hours of Wednesday, March 29, just before 11 p.m in the 600 block of North 43rd Avenue West.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke conditions throughout the home. The fire eventually broke through a window, billowing smoke and fire to the outside.
Two residents in the home escaped with their dog outside, but unfortunately a pet cat died from the effects of smoke after attempts to resuscitate it.
Twenty firefighters responded to the scene. The fire started in the bedroom from a suspected candle. Damages are estimated at $80,000, according to the Duluth Fire Department.
