“Nevertheless She Persisted” Tattoos Offered in Superior

Dozens of Women Lined Up at Ink Tattoo for Female Empowerment Tattoo

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Earlier this year, “Nevertheless She Persisted” became a feminist battle cry after Republican Senator Mitch McConnell made disparaging comments towards Democratic colleague Elizabeth Warren.

Women across the country have the phrase tattooed on their bodies, including dozens who lined up today at Ink Tattoo in Superior for their own empowerment tattoo.

“It’s something that I think has lived throughout the ages, since even before the suffrage movement and everything like that, it’s something that you can apply across the board to the feminist movement,” says Carys Jeffrey, who got a “Nevertheless She Persisted” tattoo of her own.

Ink is also showcasing an art display made by female artists from the Twin Ports and Twin Cities.
