High-Speed Chase Ends In Arrest In St. Louis County
CHERRY, Minn. – Deputies from the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office attempted to arrest a 48-year old male in the Cherry Township area around 5 a.m. Sunday, May 28.
The male, who authorities have identified as Robert Getty, of McKinley, was wanted on charges stemming from a domestic assault which has occurred in the McKinley area the previous evening.
Getty fled from deputies in a vehicle, according to a release, and led officers on a high-speed pursuit on Highway 37, south of Highway 53.
The release states that during the chase, Getty, on several occasions, waved a long gun out the drivers side window and eventually threw it out on the highway. The rifle was later recovered.
Deputies performed a PIT maneuver to stop the suspect. Getty was uninjured but taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth for evaluation. He is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail.
