Community Members Remember Those Who Died by Gun Violence
Dozens of People Rang the Memorial Bell in Honor of Gun Violence Victims
DULUTH, Minn.- The Northland Brandy Campaign and Protect Minnesota chapter honored those who had passed away because of gun violence, at a ceremony held in Duluth.
Dozens of people rang a memorial bell at the ceremony, in memory of loved ones who had lost their lives to incidents involving guns. Many of the attendees wore orange to raise awareness of gun violence, and talked about the changes in legislation they would like to see, to avoid tragedies in the future.
“The majority of people want them to do something to make us safer and reduce gun deaths and injuries so we have to remind our leaders and our community that this is happening, it’s happening every day in America,” said Joan Peterson, Co-President of the Northland Chapter of the Brady Campaign.
“It affects every single one of us. Whether it’s directly in our family or neighbors or someone that we know, there’s none of us who aren’t touched by gun violence,” said Gary Anderson, an attendee.
Almost 90 people across the nation are shot and killed every day.
