Intro To Kayaking
Duluth Folk School Teaches Amateurs How To Kayak
Island Lake, Minn.
With the more than 10 thousand lakes in Minnesota and not even counting Wisconsin there’s always some type of aquatic activity you can get involved in.
Apparently going to Walmart and buying a blow up kayak may not be in your best interest until you have the skills to hit the water.
Today at Island Lake the Duluth Folk School hosted an intro to kayaking class.
Attendees learned the ins and outs of kayaking, anything from how to get in their boat put a life jacket on or basic to advanced paddling strokes.
This giving beginners the opportunity to get comfortable before they kayak on their own.
“The best is definitely to do a course and to figure out all of the safety features that you might not even know about.” says Instructor Jennifer Buseman.
Of course the boater will learn what to do if their boat capsizes or even what to do when someone else’s boat capsizes.
The class is three days for 3 hours each day and the kayakers will end day three on Lake Superior for a more advanced part of the class.
