Park Point Neighborhood Kicks Off Annual Rummage Sale

DULUTH, Minn. — It’s a true sign of summer here in the twin ports – the park point rummage sale kicked off at eight o’clock this morning.

And cloudy, foggy weather couldn’t stop droves of Northlanders from showing up to find good deals and hidden treasures.

People are selling items in their yards, their driveways, in their garages, and even on the side of the road.

“I’m not a real big spender with these things, that way if it doesn’t work out I can just donate it.  And also it’s kind of like – these are my people,” said Robin Johnson of Esko.

Johnson says the key to having a good time at the rummage sale is to come prepared.

“I started yesterday thinking about it,” she said.  “I had to pack a lunch, I had to make extra coffee this morning, dress in layers, bring my backpack, and get the money.”

The rummage sale has grown and grown over the years, and now they even have a few food vendors.

And none are more popular than the folks selling mini donuts and cheese curds.

“[I think it’s] kind of the whole carnival type thing,” said mini donut seller Sean Sykes. “People just love sugary sweet stuff.  Cheese curds are always a big hit with people around here.  It’s kind of a Northland thing.”

The rummage sale will be open to the public Saturday morning too, at 8:00 am.

Parking is free on either side of the street.
