Council’s Rezoning Vote For Kwik Trip Is Now Void
DULUTH, Minn. – A vote by the Duluth city council Monday to rezone land for a proposed Kwik Trip near Proctor did not have the proper amount of votes to do so, according to council president Joel Sipress.
Sipress said a super majority vote of six was needed to rezone the land from residential to mixed-use — not the 5-3 vote that happened at Monday night’s council meeting.
This means Kwik Trip cannot move forward with its proposal on Boundary Avenue and UW Highway 2.
However, Sipress — who opposed the rezoning – says he’ll make a motion to reconsider the vote at the next council meeting June 27 because he says the integrity of the council voting process is of utmost importance.
