Flower Baskets Add Color to Downtown

Downtown Duluth is Getting Spruced Up for Summer

DULUTH, Minn. – If you were downtown Wednesday, you may have noticed an extra splash of color.

Members of the city’s Clean and Safe Team hung flower baskets on light poles throughout downtown.

The Greater Downtown Council has done this for about 15 years and officials say the baskets help make downtown more hospitable just in time for Grandma’s Marathon.

“It’s really all about sprucing up the downtown, putting our best foot forward,” said Kristi Stokes, President of the Greater Downtown Council.  “Getting the flowers out, cleaning up the downtown is a real important part of providing a great downtown.”

The flowers in the baskets were grown locally a Engwall’s.
