Iron Range Makerspace Ribbon Cutting is Saturday
The Ribbon Will be Made of Steel and Cut With a Plasma Cutter
HIBBING, Minn.- The Iron Range Maker Space is having its Grand Opening Saturday.
A Makerspace is a place community members can go to use tools like 3d printers, laser engravers, and woodshops, for a membership fee each month. It’s a way for people to get their hands on tools they may not have access to otherwise. The equipment at the Iron Range Makerspace was donated by team members, community members, or purchased through a partnership with the Arrowhead Economic opportunity Agency and the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.
“Those two organizations really came through big time and bought a lot of equipment that’s being housed in this space, for the community to build business and innovate,” said Andrew Hanegmon, the Optimizer for the Iron Range Makerspace.
The celebrations will include speeches from local business owners, and a ribbon cutting. But the ribbon will be made out of steel, and they will be cutting it with a plasma cutter.
