Titletown District Sled Hill Taking Shape
ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WLUK) – Another piece of the Green Bay Packers’ Titletown District is taking shape just west of Lambeau Field.
In total, the Titletown District will cover 34 acres. Part of that will be a sledding hill and public park. And if you’ve driven by lately, it’s hard to miss the area that will be the sledding hill. On Tuesday, crews finished pouring the concrete to complete the slope.
“We really hope that after you see the site that you’re going to agree that Titletown will truly be transformative in this community,” Packers Vice President and General Counsel Ed Policy said.
Policy focused on the sledding hill during a media tour of the site, calling it the most dramatic element of the Titletown development.
At its highest point, the hill reaches 60 feet into the air. And in the winter, if you’re hoping to go down the hill, you’ll just need to grab a tube that’s provided by the Packers.
“After your ride you can walk up the hill on ice-free steps,” Policy said. “We’re going to have snow melts on the steps to getting on top of the hill.”
Underneath the hill, there will be a total of 14,200 square feet of ice.
“What we’re doing is designing two distinctly different ice skating experiences into one rank,” Policy said. “We’re going to have a skating pond that’s connected to one trail”.
An ice-skating trail will go underneath the sled hill and connect to an open skating area.
This area near Hinterland Brewing Company will be available for people to play tailgating games. There’s also a football field and a playground for children.
“Kids can find a play area you just can’t find anywhere else in the region,” Policy said.
It’s a site with the hopes of spurring economic growth and attracting more visitors.
Parts of the Titletown District will open in September. The sledding hill and ice rink will open in late November.
