Mille Lacs Named Best Bass Fishing Lake in the Country by Bassmaster Magazine

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Bassmaster Magazine has released its top 12 Best Bass Lakes of 2017 and has named Mille Lacs number one thanks to its abundance of smallmouth bass.
The magazine states it was selected for its hearty bass, as winners of several fishing championships wrangled in basses weighing in over 20 pounds and some measuring longer than 17 inches.
Mille Lacs Lake in spans more than 200 square miles across three county lines; Aitkin, Mille Lacs, and Crow Wing, and ranging in depth from 20 to 40 feet.
Governor Mark Dayton expressed his excitement on the announcement in a release Thursday stating, “With tremendous bass fishing, terrific family-owned resorts, and many other recreation choices, Mille Lacs is a great lake for the whole family to visit. I invite all bass enthusiasts from Minnesota and across the country to come to Mill Lacs and enjoy the best bass fishing lake in America.”
