Thunder Shirts Help Dogs Stay Calm During Fireworks

4th of July Means Fireworks. Fireworks Could Mean Anxiety for Fido.

DULUTH, Minn.- Fourth of July means fireworks and fun, but for some pets, loud noises can cause a lot of anxiety.

Experts advise keeping pets that get nervous in a room or space that they won’t get loose from. They also advise using products like thunder shirts, a vest for dogs that calms them by slightly compressing their bodies.

“A thunder shirt is basically a tight fitting wrap, kind of makes a dog feel like they’re getting a hug. It’s very similar to what we do for infants by swaddling them,” said Jamie Parent, Co-Owner of A Place for Fido.

Even if your dogs are not scared of loud noises, canine friends are not allowed in Bayfront Park for the fireworks in Duluth.
