Independence Day Celebrated at Fourth Fest

Thousands Go to Duluth's Bayfront Park to Enjoy Festival Food and Live Music

DULUTH, Minn. – As people across the Northland get out and celebrate Independence Day, Duluth’s annual Fourth Fest is popping off in Bayfront Park.

“We’re down here to help serve some food and celebrate the 4th of July with the community and enjoy some great entertainment,” says Jessica Fralich from Tig’s Smok’n Pig BBQ, a vendor at the event.

Fourth Fest brings thousands to Duluth’s iconic Bayfront.

“It’s kind of a break from the Twin Cities,” says attendee Colby Taylor. “I’m from there, and you get to see Lake Superior and the cool bridge and yeah, it’s pretty interesting.”

They enjoy live music and eat all the festival food they can scarf down.

“Absolutely, yes. What we like to do is food,” says attendee Tim Michon.

Including everything from kettle corn to barbecue.

“We’ve got our quarter smoked chicken today going out, we’ve also got a smoked pulled pork, smoked beans, and our new polish smoked sausages,” says Fralich.

It was a great day to be outside.

“It’s a really nice time of year,” says Michon. “Patriotism. It’s about America.”

And to enjoy the summer sunshine while it’s still here.

“A variety of food, a variety of entertainment, so it’s just really a coming together of community and culture,” says Fralich.

The live music went on all night at Bayfront Park, as more and more people arrived for the fireworks display.
