Young Readers Hear Stories from Mounted Patrol Officers

The next Squad Car Story Time at the Duluth Public Library is July 19.

DULUTH, Minn. – Story time was extra special for a group of young readers today.

The Duluth Police Department’s mounted patrol unit spent some time reading books to kids in the plaza at the Duluth Public Library this afternoon.

Two officers were accompanied by their horses Maggie and Ranger. Squad Car Story Time takes place every other Wednesday at the library and serves as a way to help the community become more familiar with mounted patrol and police officers.

“It’s a wonderful event to get the kids to interact with us, see the horses, pet the horses,” said Jim Matson, a mounted patrol officer. “A lot of time that’s what they’re here to do is to see the horses.”
