Organizers Prepare for “A Day at The Wade”

An upcomming BBQ looks to raise funds for youth sport

DULUTH, Minn. – People are getting ready for “A Day at the Wade,” a fundraiser to raise money for youth programming in the community.

The community BBQ is happening on July 19, at the Wade Stadium in Duluth. The fundraiser for youth programs like baseball, football, and robotics. Organizers say community support is vital to keeping these programs up and running.

“Youth sports, that’s the area I like to help the most,” organizer Mike Letica said. “There’s not a lot of funding for them. So without community help, without people donating, the programs wouldn’t’ exist. Simple as that.”

“It keeps them busy,” said youth sports coach Stacey Vehrl. “It keeps them active, it teaches them how to be a teammate, how to be a better person. And all and all it keeps them out of trouble.”

“A Day at the Wade” is $10 to attend. The event features live music, food, and special vendors. All proceeds go to youth programming.
