Lincoln Park Open House Happening Saturday

The event showcases the growing Lincoln Park Business District

DULUTH, Minn. – The Lincoln Park community in Duluth is getting ready to host their second annual Lincoln Park Open House. More than 30 businesses in the Lincoln Park area will be hosting special events and deals on Saturday.

The event is meant to showcase the growing business community happening in the district.

“There are a lot of things happening in the neighborhood,” organizer Shannon Laing said. “A lot of new businesses opening, along with businesses that have been here for a really long time. Throughout Duluth, we have a tendency to stay in our own little bubble – people out west don’t usually go east, visa–versa, so this is a good excuse to say ‘hey, I’ve always wanted to see that.'”

And what is a celebration of Duluth communities without a little bit of art? Local artist Jonathan Thunder is creating a chalk piece on Lincoln Park’s Elephant Rock, and naturally, he’s going with an elephant theme.

“Working with the theme that an elephant is it’s own little habitat,” Thunder said. “There are a lot of smaller creatures, bugs, bees, humming birds, things that eat off the elephant, and I’m just working a lot of little characters in with that.”

The events start at 10 a.m. and go through 4 p.m.
