Canadian Consul General Visits Duluth
Consul Meeting With Local Politicians and Business Leaders
DULUTH, Minn. – The Canadian Consul General to Minneapolis is in Duluth talking with local leaders.
The Consul is meeting with politicians and businesses about the important relationship between Canada and the Duluth area.
He said Minnesota Power and Maurices are two local companies that do a lot of business across the border.
“The border in some ways is a false one,” said Consul General Khawar Nasim. “We up here in Northern Minnesota and in Ontario and in Manitoba, we share a lot of things in common, so the border to us is somewhat just notional because we’re so close in so many ways.”
The Consul spoke at UMD last night and will be the keynote speaker at tonight’s Chamber of Commerce dinner at the DECC.
