DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth Public Library was the place to be for young fans of Captain Underpants on Friday.

The library threw a party for the popular children’s book, complete with crafts and games. The library throws events like these to encourage young people to read.

“It’s just about imagination and about getting kids interested in reading,” Duluth Public Library’s Leah Blackwell said. “They’re really fun. And the main characters of the book actually write comics themselves. So it encourages kids to get creating and write comics. We actually have comic station over here where kids can draw. It’s encouraging literacy in a bunch of different ways.”

The party ended with a viewing of the movie, Captain Underpants Epic Movie.
